Hello! My name is Cori, and I would like to introduce you to the "Mall Project"! This collaboration project is dedicated to all deviant artists who devote their time and effort into creating, producing, and selling their works online. This project aims to unite those artists to create a deviantArt mall, where others may easily visit and purchase their works. Not only will this help artists in their trade, but help those interested in buying unique works of art to easily find these artists without the need to hunt or find them by chance.
Basically, I plan to start this project small. At first it'll start with a list of names under set categories. Pretty simple, right? You know which artists are selling/doing comissions under which category, and the status will show if they're open or closed.
The "shopping mall" is set similar to a RPG game interface. Each approved artist has his or her own shop building, similar to one of these:
These are sample shops based off =Blackmago, =MoogleGurl, and *RainCookie's characters. In the actual interactive version of the mall, by clicking on the artist's shop, a menu will appear which mainly: 1) introduces you to the artist very briefly, 2) gives you an overview of his or her sales works, and 3) gives you the options of browsing his or her actual online shop.
Yes, some artists' works may be a bit pricy compared to ones you may find in a local store. And, sure; you might be able to find and buy a cheaper and similiar doll there, vs. the one you saw a dA artist sell online. But if you think about it, that doll at that store has been created in the tens of thousands, in a factory, spread all across the world. Not much uniqueness to that. But the works you find made by dA artists are original and usually one-of-a-kind. Even if the artist creates his or her own doll pattern to create a mini army of them to sell, an artist can only make so many dolls.
Some artists accepts art commissions, where you can get your own original character painted/crafted/created/etc. Plus, you can actually get to know the actual artist. (And I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you asked them to send you a piece of paper with their signature on it. <3 ) If somebody asks you "Where'd you get that?", you can tell them that you bought it from an artist from their website, and actually tell them a bit about the artist behind the work.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.
Here it is!: [link] The interactive mall can be found here: [link]
A: The Mall Project is a collaboration, so serious artists of any level are welcomed to join. However, there are rules and terms of joining:
You MUST fit with all three terms.
You are an artist on deviantArt
You are actively selling something (which means you have a commission PAGE)
Your shop/sales aren't closed most of the time
If you apply with above, this will get you a spot down at the list under a specific category. Now to actually join it is fairly simple.
Use this form to join the Mall Project. When you're done, copy and paste the information and send me a note.

Type of Trade: What kind of artist are you?
Category: Art commission / apparel / prints / clay works / jewelry and misc.
Rules have CHANGED. You do NOT need to be in the Mall Project to participate. If you wish, just send me a note with your pixel shop.
However, if you ARE in the Mall Project, here are the rules and terms:
x You MUST have an extended sales information page
x Must have been active in sales for at least 60 days beforehand
If you meet with above, you may start making your Pixel Shop!
It's sort of lame if your shop always seems to be closed :c But you can have something like "opened only during summer" kinds of stuff too!
Keep in mind, if you do not fit with the conditions above, I might refuse! :c Remember, you have to be part of the Mall project before you can get into the Inteactive Project! sorry~
More info in this found below.
If you are interested in joining and making your own shop, I ask that you try to make the shop look pretty and creative! For example:
do NOT use fan characters from your favorite show/manga--don't use it if it is not YOURS

This project is done with the "Artists helping artists" mentality. Please do not bother joining if you are joining for the wrong reasons! This is a non-profit project, in the sense that I do not gain, nor intend to gain, anything for this! I will never charge artists to join in this project! Thank you!

Pixel art commissions or something! :]
Not the best economic situation for most artists :c Forces more people onto the "Starving Artists" list--and that's just cruel.
Definately! By then (hopefully) it'll be pretty big :] You definately can join! (hope you do!)
